Our Roof Cleaning Process

First off, Moss has to go!

We use special nylon brushes to gently hand scrub off all outstanding moss. The length of this part is based entirely on how much moss there currently is.

We then leaf blow off all excess dirt, dust, and moss and we clean out the gutters and downspouts as well!

Roof Moss Treatment

Depending on your roof and what we recommend there are two ways we can treat the roof for moss. The first way is with moss powder like zinc or laundry detergent. This is activated when it rains and washes down over the next few weeks. You’ve probably seen houses with the white powder on them! That’s what it’s for.

The other option is to do a soft wash. This is usually done when you want the roof to look spotless and it is generally a bit pricier of an option but it is definitely worth it! Typically a soft wash uses chemicals like sodium hypochlorite (bleach) water and soap to do the work of killing the residual bits of moss and algae that have built up over years of being in the Pacific Northwest.

This can be done with a large sprayer tank, hand spray, or hose atachment sprayer. We have our own roof soft washing tank that we use to gently spray- LOW pressure only!

With our special bleach sprayer, we kill all moss in its tracks. Any moss tidbits still stuck on the roof will crumble and fall off within 6-8 weeks.

There are 2 main factors in the price: The size and shape of the roof, and the amount of moss.

If you haven’t had your roof cleaned before the chances are good it will take a bit more time to do a proper cleaning.

We generally only recommend getting the full soft wash treatment every 5 -10 years.
